Summary – basic function of the role

To provide a professional technical training service in all required disciplines and to ensure training activities are arranged, evaluated and assessed in accordance with Company procedures including the maintenance of training records. The role will also contribute to promotion of the Hydratight Continuous Improvement process and HSEQ activities.

Shift: Monday – Friday, evenings and weekends may be required; When not traveling, hybrid 3 day in office schedule in Deer Park, TX

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze organizational objectives to align training programs with business goals.
  • Take ownership of and oversee the planning and delivery of technical training program, including logistics, required resources; sourcing external training resources when necessary.
  • Maintains updated nomination, assessment and evaluation documents for all Americas training activity and ensures these are processed in a timely fashion in line with Company procedures.
  • Conduct audits of learning and development materials and courses across the Americas region to ensure consistent communication and proper assessment.
  • Maintains updated training records for all US-based employees including Site Technicians and Trainers
  • Ensure compliance of training programs with industry regulations, legal requirements, and companies’ policies. Conduct a periodic review of Training and Development materials in line with these regulations and policies, consulting subject matter experts for content review as necessary.
  • Collaborate weekly with Operations Managers to ensure technician competencies are proactively managed and upcoming demand is anticipated and training planned and executed.
  • Supervise training delivery by trainers and subject matter experts, while also mentoring trainers.
  • Books external training courses for all US based employees
  • Codes, checks and approves for payment all US training related invoices
  • Files and records all training related documents
  • Takes responsibility for arranging and organizing all major, ad hoc training events
  • Participates in ad hoc training projects – training needs analysis, competency matrices etc.
  • Ensures any refresher training for US employees is identified and addressed in a timely manner – e.g., FLT. First Aid, technician certifications
  • Carries out product training for Hydratight employees, including shop personnel, as required
  • Works with managers and employees to identify training needs and takes appropriate action to address these needs
  • Collaborate with team leaders in the region to expand the customer training Line of Business.
  • Collates and prepares information for annual training budget and plan
  • Works with non-US Hydratight locations ensuring compliance with training audit requirements and offers advice and assistance as required.
  • Reports monthly on training expenditure and documents requiring signature
  • Presents ideas for improvement and continually seeks to improve current ways of working
  • Ensures that equality of opportunity (with respect to training and development) is available to all existing and prospective employees
  • Promotes and supports the Company’s Continuous Improvement program at all levels in the business
  • Ensures own and others’ compliance with all Company standards, policies and procedures

Skills and Competencies

  • Computer skills include knowledge of Microsoft Windows software suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) and company business ERP system.
  • Read and interpret documents such as operating procedural manuals, maintenance instructions, and safety rules and MSDS.
  • Ability to enter routine maintenance reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers, or employees of organization.
  • Calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to manage workshop personnel and accurately account for all equipment.
  • Must have great organizational skills.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 7 years’ experience within training role
  • Certification in the areas of Assembly, Calibration-Conformance testing and Order Management is preferred
  • Forklift certification is preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass site specific background/drug tests.

Physical Demands

Employee may have to lift documents/work materials up to 30 pounds in weight. Employee may have to lift tools up to 100 pounds in weight. Employee will have to be able to walk/climb to a variety of primary work locations, including traveling by air/auto to remote sites. This can include occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like. Employee may move themselves in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces. Employee will need to move about to accomplish tasks or move from one worksite to another. Employee will need to operate machinery and/or power tools, motor vehicles, and heavy equipment. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members in person, telephonically, and electronically at all levels within a diverse workforce and with supported organizations. Employee will need to assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned. Employee can work in front of a personal computer and telephone for long periods of time. Will have repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Work Environment

Primary work environment is temperature-controlled office setting but may also be visiting different customers where following appropriate safety protocols at the location would be required. While visiting customers, employee may occasionally be exposed to high/low temperatures, outdoor elements (such as precipitation and wind), high levels of noise, hazardous conditions, small and/or enclosed spaces, or adverse environmental conditions.
